What a tour company booking website needs to actually sell

A tourist in Hurghada usually books an excursion in one of three places: at the hotel desk, from someone on the beach, or on their phone. The phone is where you can win a booking — or lose it without ever knowing. Someone taps your link from Instagram or Google, gets confused for ten seconds, and goes back to the sunbed.

We’ve built booking websites for Red Sea excursion companies, including Noah Trips and Mr Egypt Trips. Here’s what we’ve learned about what a tour booking site really needs before it starts selling.

Speak the guest’s language — properly

Your guests come from many countries, and most of them would rather book in their own language. A site that only speaks English loses people who would have booked happily in German, Russian or Polish.

But a bad translation can be almost worse than none. A few rules we follow:

  • Translate everything: trip pages, buttons, form errors, confirmation messages and emails.
  • Let visitors switch language on every page, and remember their choice.
  • Give each language its own address and its own titles, so Google can show it to people searching in that language.
  • If you have Arabic, build right-to-left properly — not a mirror image of the English layout with broken alignment.

Noah Trips runs in eight languages. The work wasn’t only in the words; it was in making sure every layout still looks right in all of them.

Show prices in their currency

A guest from Germany thinks in euros, a guest from the UK in pounds, a guest from the US in dollars. If they have to open a converter to understand your price, you’ve added friction at the exact moment they’re deciding.

A currency switcher — euro, dollar, pound, Egyptian pound and whatever else your market needs — removes that step. Be clear about which currency they’ll actually pay in, and when.

Solve the pickup question before they ask

“Can you pick me up from my hotel?” is one of the first questions guests ask. They’re spread from El Gouna to Makadi Bay and beyond, and pickup times differ by area.

Answer it on the site. On Noah Trips we built a pickup checker: the guest types their hotel or area and sees straight away whether it’s covered. It saves your team the same conversation every day, and it removes a reason to hesitate.

Make booking quick — and don’t force payment up front

Every extra field in a booking form is a chance to lose someone. Ask only for what you need: trip, date, number of people, hotel, name and a way to reach them.

Then think carefully about payment. Some guests are happy to pay online. Many are not — especially when they’re booking with a company they’ve just discovered. Offering “reserve now, pay on the day” can make the decision much easier. Mr Egypt Trips takes payment online, while Noah Trips lets guests reserve and pay on the day. Both are valid; the right choice depends on how you operate, and some companies offer both.

Keep WhatsApp one tap away

In Egypt, business happens on WhatsApp — and many of your guests use it at home too. A good booking site doesn’t fight that; it uses it.

  • Put a WhatsApp button on every trip page, with a pre-written message that includes the trip name.
  • Offer “quick book on WhatsApp” next to the normal booking button for people who prefer to talk to a person.
  • Make sure someone actually answers, fast. The button is only as good as the reply.

On Mr Egypt Trips, the booking assistant hands the chat over to WhatsApp when a guest wants a human. That handoff keeps the personal touch tour companies here are known for.

Let reviews and real photos do the selling

Guests can’t try your boat trip before they book it. What they can do is look at photos and read what other travellers said.

  • Use real photos and short videos from your own trips — not stock images of a different sea.
  • Show reviews from the platforms guests already trust, and link to them.
  • Describe each trip honestly: how long it takes, what’s included, what to bring and who it suits.

Honest descriptions also mean fewer disappointed guests and fewer awkward conversations on the day.

Build for a phone on hotel Wi-Fi

Most of your visitors are on a phone, often on slow hotel Wi-Fi or roaming data. A site that takes too long to load loses them before they see a single trip.

That means compressed images, a light and fast build, and a layout designed for thumbs first: big buttons, short forms, prices and the booking button visible without hunting for them. We test every booking site on a real phone, not just on a big desktop screen.

Make it easy to choose

Hurghada has a lot to offer: sea trips, snorkelling, safaris, diving, day trips to Luxor and Cairo. Too much choice can freeze people.

Group trips clearly — sea, desert, sightseeing, local — and highlight a few favourites. Mr Egypt Trips goes a step further with an AI trip planner that asks two quick questions and suggests the trips that fit. Even without AI, clear categories and honest “best for” notes help a lot.

Keep it easy to update

Prices change, trips are added, seasons shift. If every change needs a developer, the site goes out of date fast. A simple admin dashboard where your team edits trips, prices and photos keeps the site accurate.

An accurate site sells more than a pretty one that’s wrong.

Where to start

You don’t need everything on day one. A solid first version usually has the right languages, clear trip pages with real photos, pickup information, a short booking form, WhatsApp and a fast mobile build. Payments, accounts and extras can follow.

If you run a tour or excursion company and want a booking site that sells, have a look at our web apps and booking systems or request a quote. Thinking about budget? Read what actually decides a website’s price.
